A Fright to the Death by Dawn Eastman - Review and Giveaway

I received this book in exchange for a fair and honest review

A Fright to the Death by Dawn Eastman
A Family Fortune Mystery #3
ISBN: 9780425264485
Mass Market Paperback

Synopsis:

From the author of Be Careful What You Witch For, here is the newest Family Fortune Mystery, starring former cop Clyde Fortune, who—snowbound with her kooky family in a creepy castle—is climbing the walls and combing the halls, looking for a cold-blooded killer…

After their flight to Mexico is cancelled, Clyde and her detective boyfriend, Mac, end up snowed in with their families at a supposedly haunted hotel. Clyde’s tarot card reading mother, Rose, is making dire predictions for the weekend, and self-proclaimed pet psychic Aunt Vi is enchanted by the legend of the hotel’s ghost—until the power goes out and a body turns up.

With a hotel full of stranded suspects, Clyde will have to draw on all her skills—both the police ones she’d rather forget and the psychic ones she’d rather ignore—to solve the bone-chilling mystery before someone else gets iced…

My Review:
This a great addition to a fun series. For this book we get to take a trip to creepy castle that is now a bed and breakfast. I love all the quirky characters in this series and they did not disappoint me in this installment. Even though I don't read paranormal books this cozy mystery is different from the  normal genre of paranormal. The author does a good job of making the story and the paranormal aspects of this story seem like they really happen. This story is full of twists and turns and will keep you up long into the night trying to find out what happens next. I will be awaiting the next installment in this series so we can see what happens next with this delightful cast of characters.

About the author:
When I was ten years old, my two favorite things were climbing trees and reading. As a bonus, I discovered if I combined the two, I could hide from my mother when she wanted me to clean my room. Nancy Drew and I spent many afternoons solving crimes and avoiding chores. Eventually, I moved on to Hercule Poirot, Sherlock Holmes, and Stephanie Plum. I improved my housework-dodging ploys.

After many years in Michigan, I now live in Iowa with my husband, son and daughter. When I’m not writing or chauffeuring kids, I keep busy catering to the whims of a bossy bichon-shih tzu mix who wants to rule the world.

  1. My first cozy I ever read was The Diva Digs up the Dirt by Krista Davis. My public library does a summer reading program every year, and it was one of the books on the list. That is when I started to read cozy mysteries.

The review of A Fright to the Death was great. I am looking forward to reading it. Thank you for the giveaway.

  17. I love your comet about improving your housework dodging ploys! Funny! In the first 10-15 years my husband and I were married, we would keep track of everything we spent in columns in a ledger. It helped us watch where the money went and the luxury items were kept to a minimum. However, there were times when I just needed to buy a book, so I would buy it at the grocery store, where it would be listed as a grocery item. Snuck them into the house. I have confessed to that ploy now. And I didn't do it often since we had a decent library. Anyway, thanks for the review. I look forward to reading this book sometime, I love stories about snowstorms!

    1. Oh, and I think the first "cozy" mystery I ever read was something like the Mystery of the Old Barn, or Mystery in the Old Barn, something like that. And then it was Nancy Drew and Trixie Belden.

  19. I've read quite a few series but don't remember the first. Diana Mott Davidson and the Goldy books, JoAnne Fluke,...tired, can't think of names...but the one with the ex-nun with the detective husband and the titles were different holidays, the one about the tea shop, oh there's lot....
