BOOK DESCRIPTIONS
THE COUNTERFEITER-CATCHING CAT:
The leaves have turned and autumn has finally come to the small town of Ashbrook, New Hampshire. Beatrice Young, the sixty-two-year-old owner of the Cozy Cat Café, is busy slinging coffee for tourists. Yet when her ever-perceptive Maine Coon cat, Hamish, sniffs out a fake twenty-dollar bill, the hunt is on to find its maker.

THE EXTORTION CAT-ASTROPHE:
The Ashbrook Fall Fair is around the corner and Beatrice Young, the sixty-two-year-old owner of the Cozy Cat Café, is gunning to finally win the prestigious baking competition. Yet when her friend Nathan rushes in with a wild tale of extortion ten years in the making, it's up to Beatrice and her cats Hamish and Lucky to hunt down the culprit.

THE TAIL OF THE SECRET IDENTITY:
Bernie Sullivan is Ashbrook, New Hampshire's beloved mayor. That is, until he winds up dead.

Such a paw-sitively dreadful event calls for the assistance of Beatrice Young, the sixty-two-year-old owner of the Cozy Cat Café, and her crime-solving cats Hamish and Lucky. As the truth about the mayor's past comes to light, they discover that Bernie was not at all who he pretended to be.

To complicate matters further, there's a new cat on the scene--the pretty Petunia, who has Hamish and Lucky duking it out for her attention. Not to mention that Beatrice's ex-husband and best friend Matthew has a date. What's Beatrice to do?

THE PURRFECT HALLOWEEN PRANK:
It's almost Halloween in Ashbrook, New Hampshire and 62-year-old Beatrice Young is just as busy decorating the Cozy Cat Café as she is deciding on the purrfect costumes for her three crime-solving cats: Hamish, Petunia, and Lucky. But when a bomb narrowly misses blowing Beatrice's car to smithereens, it's time to turn her attention to tracking down the perpetrator.

THE SANTA CLAWS BANDIT:
Imagine Beatrice Young's surprise when she's shopping for Christmas presents with her three cats ... and Santa appears armed with a gun and makes off with a sack full of toys!

The sixty-two-year old amateur sleuth and Cozy Cat Cafe owner had better get to the bottom of this crazy case, and quickly, because Santa's hitting up stores all over town ... and depositing his stash on the lawns of needy kids.

With her crime-solving feline crew in tow, Beatrice tracks down the renegade Santa--all while trying to hold together a disastrous charity Christmas play and prepare the cafe for the holiday season. But she'd better be crafty, because this Santa definitely doesn't want to be caught!

My thoughts:
This set of mysteries is a cat lover's dream series. I will start with the first story. I love that it was set in the fall the perfect time for a fun series to start. We get introduced to Hamish and Lucky who can sniff out a fake bill and then helps to solve the crime. I love those cats. Oh and the characters are good people too. It if funny how Beatrice takes the cats everywhere with her. There are some twists that will keep you reading to see what happens next. Now on to book two. This time Beatrice is hoping to win a baking competition when a crime of extortion comes to light. What's a person to do? Well solve the crime with those fun loving crime fighting cats that's what. Again Beatrice takes her cats on the hunt through the town to figure out who is stealing the money. What happens in book three? This time we have a mayor who has been hiding secrets from everyone. With the help of a new cat Petunia the cats we have come to love are at it again to help their human Beatrice to get everything straightened out. It was funny to watch Hamish and Lucky trying to get Petunia's attention. Now on to book four. I loved the Halloween theme which was perfect since we just had this holiday. I liked going along with Beatrice trying to figure out what costumes she wanted the three loveable cats to wear. This time the crime was a little closer to home as someone is trying to take out Beatrice. I think her and the cats are getting too good at solving crimes and someone does not like it. Luckily she has some great help to figure out what is happening and solves the crime. Last we have a Christmas themed mystery with all the characters and townspeople we have come to love in this series. Why would Santa steal a bag of gifts well Beatrice and her fun loving cats will find out. I loved how each story went right into the next so it was more like reading one big book rather than five short stories. The author had a good writing style that helped the books to move right along. You get started on book one and think you will read a few pages and the next thing you know you are halfway through the book. I also liked how she described the antics of the cats as a owner of a herd of cats myself I can tell you they do each have their own personalities and this author does a good job of showing Hamish, Lucky and Petunia's. If you like mysteries and you like cats then this is the set of books for you.

About the author:
Alannah Rogers is the pen name for a Canadian writer. Her parents live in Thunder Bay, which has allowed her to explore the beautiful state of Minnesota right across the border (where the Jamie Burger novels are set). She grew up in Nova Scotia and her trips to nearby Maine and New Hampshire helped inspire the Beatrice Young books.

She is currently based in Toronto and Mexico City, where her husband is from.

Alannah loves to travel the world, scarf down Thai and Indian food, and would live in a bakery if she could. Buying books of all stripes is her weakness, though she particularly loves fantasy and memoirs.

She is a full-time writer and loves every minute of it (when she's not absolutely hating it, it's a fifty-fifty proposition). Because of her semi-nomadic lifestyle, she doesn't have a cat right now but makes up for it by lavishing attention on friends' pets or any poor cat she encounters on the street.
