About Cloaked in Danger

Publication Date: January 27, 2014 by Carina Press
eBook: ASIN: B00F93X7ZI

Synopsis:
Aria Whitney has little in common with the delicate ladies of London society. Her famous father made his fortune hunting archaeological treasures, and her rustic upbringing has left her ill prepared for a life of parties and frippery. But when Gideon Whitney goes missing in Egypt, Aria must embrace the unknown. Armed with only the short list of highborn men who’d backed her father’s venture, she poses as a woman looking for a husband. She doesn’t intend to find one. Adam Willoughby, Earl of Merewood, finds London’s strangest new debutante fascinating, but when he catches her investigating his family’s secrets, he threatens to ruin her reputation. He doesn’t intend to enjoy it so much.
When their lustful indiscretion is discovered, Adam finds that he regrets nothing. But now, as Aria’s father’s enemy draws near, Adam must convince his betrothed that she can trust him with her own secrets…before it’s too late.

About the author:
Jeannie Ruesch wrote her first story at the age of the six, prompting her to give up an illustrious, hours-long ambition of becoming a Dallas Cowboy Cheerleader and declare that writing was her destiny. That journey to destiny took a few detours along the way, including a career in marketing and design. Her first novel, a fairy-tale like historical romance, was published in 2009, but the darker side of life had always captivated her. So after a dinner conversation with friends about the best way to hide a dead body, she knew she had to find a way to incorporate suspense into her writing. (The legal outlet for her fascination.) Today, she continues writing what she loves to read – stories of history, romance and suspense. She lives in Northern California with her husband, their son and an 80 pound lapdog lab named Cooper. She is also the creator of the WIP Notebook, a writer’s tool to help stay organized while you write, which you can find at her website. You can also follow her onFacebook, Twitter, Goodreads and Pinterest.

My Review: First, I have a confession to make I have not finished this book yet and not fault to the book on that. There was a little hiccup and received the book a little late for me to get it finished but I still wanted to tell you all about the book. This is the first book I have read by this author and so far it is an enjoyable book to read and I am sure the rest will be just as good. I have not read an books by this author before but the subject matter caught my attention. Being a fan of historical fiction I have not read much on France so was excited to receive this book. The author is doing a good job with the historical aspect of the story and making so I am really getting to know Isabella. Isabella was a strong woman as I am learning from this story. If you are a historical fiction fan then I suggest this book for you.

I received this book in exchange for a fair and honest reviews.

The Dancing Master by Julie Klassen
ISBN: 9780764210709
Trade Paperback

Synopsis: Finding himself the man of the family, London dancing master Alec Valcourt moves his mother and sister to remote Devonshire, hoping to start over. But he is stunned to learn the village matriarch has prohibited all dancing, for reasons buried deep in her past.
Alec finds an unlikely ally in the matriarch's daughter. Though he's initially wary of Julia Midwinter's reckless flirtation, he comes to realize her bold exterior disguises a vulnerable soul---and hidden sorrows of her own.
Julia is quickly attracted to the handsome dancing master---a man her mother would never approve of---but she cannot imagine why Mr. Valcourt would leave London, or why he evades questions about his past. With Alec's help, can Julia uncover old secrets and restore life to her somber village . . . and to her mother's tattered heart?
Filled with mystery and romance, The Dancing Master brings to life the intriguing profession of those who taught essential social graces for ladies and gentlemen hoping to make a "good match" in Regency England.

My review: Just as with the books I have read before by Julie I loved this one. I enjoy that she writes historical books and this one resembles Jane Austen which makes it that much more enjoyable to me. The characters are well developed and very easy to fall in love with. I also the little bit of mystery that was included in this book. If you enjoy books set in Regency times you will enjoy this book.

Emma of Aurora by Jane Kirkpatrick

"I received this book for free from Blogging for Books for this review."

Emma of Aurora by Jane Kirkpatrick
ISBN: 9780307732156
Trade Paperback
Change and Cherish Trilogy

This book is three books in one and they are:
A Clearing in the Wild
A Tendering in the Storm
A Mending at the Edge

Synopsis: A Clearing in the Wild
When Emma’s outspoken ways and growing skepticism lead to a clash with the 1850s Bethel, Missouri colony’s beloved leader, she finds new opportunities to pursue her dreams of independence. But as she clears a pathway West to her truest and deepest self, she discovers something she never expected: a yearning for the warm embrace of community.
A Tendering in the Storm
Determined to raise her children on her own terms, Emma suddenly finds herself alone and pregnant with her third child, struggling to keep her family secure in the remote coastal forest of the Washington Territory. As clouds of despair close in, she must decide whether to continue in her own waning strength or to humble herself and accept help from the very people she once so eagerly left behind.
A Mending at the Edge
As a mother, daughter, sister, and estranged wife, Emma struggles to find her place inside—and outside—the confines of her religious community. Emma reaches out to others on the fringe, searching for healing and purpose. By blending her unique talents with service to others, she creates renewed hope as she weaves together the threads of family, friends, and faith.

My Review: Jane has another hit for me with this series of books. I like how all of her books pull you so much that you don't want to put them down and before you know it you are finished with the book. It was enjoyable to read about Emma and how the she went West. Emma was definately a strong woman to do all she did. I am glad that all three books were in one volume because as soon as I was done with one, I was ready to start the next. I recommend this series to historical fiction fans.

Rosemary and Crime by Gail Oust

I received this book in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Rosemary and Crime by Gail Oust
ISBN: 9781250011046
Hardback

Synopsis: Murder comes well-seasoned in this charming mystery featuring a smart and spunky new amateur sleuth, small-town Georgia spice shop owner Piper Prescott
Piper Prescott, a transplanted Yankee living in the South, has got her sass back.  She might be down, but don’t count her out.  “Change of life?” she asks.  Bring it on.  Recently divorced, Piper decides to pursue a dream she’s secretly harbored: owning her own business, Spice it Up!, a spice shop in her adopted hometown, Brandywine Creek, Georgia.  But Piper’s grand opening goes awry when the local chef who’s agreed to do a cooking demo is found stabbed.  Not only did Piper find the body, she handled the murder weapon and doesn’t have a witness to her alibi, making the case look like a slam dunk to brand new police Chief Wyatt McBride.  Desperate to uncover the truth—and prove her innocence—Piper enlists the help of her outspoken BFF Reba Mae Johnson to help track down the real culprit.  The pair compile a lengthy list of suspects and work to eliminate them using their own creative brand of sleuthing techniques including stakeouts, breaking and entering, and one very unorthodox chocolate pie. When Piper narrowly avoids being a victim of a hit-and-run, she knows she’s getting closer to the truth, but can she catch the killer and clear her name before she becomes the next victim?
My review: This was my first book I have read by this author and I enjoyed this story. It was a very cute story. I had a hard time picking out who the person was who "did it" as there were many that were suspects. I have to say the book moved right along and was a quick read for me. I also like that this story was a cooking themed mystery it made it fun for me to read. A nice fun weekend read.

Elusive Hope by MaryLu Tyndall

I received this book in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Elusive Hope by MaryLu Tyndall

Trade Paperback

Hayden is seeking revenge. Relentlessly.
After years of all but selling his soul to track down his scoundrel of a father, Hayden Gale discovers his search must continue in South America, where his father is reported to be helping colonize Brazil. Hayden has nothing more to lose, certainly not a good reputation, and vows to keep pursuing--at any cost--the vile man who he believes killed his mother.
Magnolia is seeking a way out. Desperately.
She's in the jungles of Brazil against her will, but what choice does Magnolia Scott have? Her father insisted on uprooting their family to escape the uncertainty of Southern life after the Civil War. But how will she survive without all she holds dear--wealthy suitors, beautiful clothes, summer balls, and slaves waiting on her every whim? She vows to find a way to get back home--and attaches herself to handsome Hayden Gale.
As they journey toward Rio de Janeiro, they each seek to use the other for their own purposes. Deceptively. Falling in love was never part of their plans...

My review: I have to say that I enjoyed this book as much as I did the first one in the series (Foresaken Dreams). MaryLu does a good job of sweeping you away to a far away land for an enjoyable trip. The charactr development is very good as is the descriptions of the land. There is a mixture of romance as well as adventure so you will not want to put this book down. Another thing I enjoyed was seeing how the colony was developing from the first story. I can't wait to see what MaryLu has in store for us in the third book. I would recommend reading this series in order to get the full story but that is not to say that you could not enjoy this by itself as well.
