We really do not follow traditions , apart from making cookies and the gingerbread house

ReplyDeleteBesides decorating the tree, we always have some kind of special breakfast a casserole or really good cinnamon rolls and while they bake my sisters and I all stake out a spot in the living room, dad passes out the presents and we open them. And then dinner around 3. Pretty simple.
ReplyDeletewe have after dinner reading time. for years we read the chronicles of Narnia. my kids are 25 and 27. my sister is 42..and her daughter is 10. I have been reading on Christmas night since 1983.
ReplyDeleteWe have several little things, certain dishes for certain meals on certain days, throwing out reindeer food and leaving elf donuts with the cookies and milk. ReplyDeleteWe always open new pajamas on Christmas Eve. On Christmas Day we open presents and eat breakfast casserole.

ReplyDeleteOne of my family's Christmas traditions is that the entire family gathers together on Christmas Day (siblings, spouses, in-laws, kids, grandkids, grandparents, etc) for Christmas Day lunch where we all laugh, joke, reminesce, eat, and watch the little ones open their presents.

We all play a board game together on Christmas Eve in matching Christmas pyjamas. Kind of dumb, but it's fun to continue something we did as kids even into our late 20's.

ReplyDeleteWe don't have any specific traditions other than the whole day is spent with family watching Christmas movies, reading the Christmas story and playing board games until we are exhausted. :)

ReplyDeleteOur big tradition is every Christmas Eve I let my kids open one present. It's always Christmas pajamas. Then they put on their hristmas pjs and have hot cocoa by the fire and then watch Christmas movies together. They LOVE that tradition I started it because my mom never ever let us open a present on Christmas Eve lol and we always wanted to soo bad..my kids look forward to it so much.. even my 14 year old still loves it she says that's one of her fav parts about Christmas because we're all together and we do it together.

ReplyDeleteWhen my son was young, we had traditions of baking and opening one gift on Christmas Eve, but now that he is grown and married, there are no traditions. He and his wife do their own thing and I am pretty much left on my own. I do manage to get a Merry Christmas every year but that's about it. I went to Sizzler with my sister for lunch. Maybe that's a new tradition!
