A Biscuit, A Casket by Liz Mugavero
A Pawsitively Organic Mystery - Book 2
ISBN: 9780758284808
Mass Market Paperback
Synopsis: The small town of Frog Ledge, Connecticut, has wholeheartedly embraced Kristan "Stan" Connor's new business - preparing quality organic treats for dogs and cats. On a healthy diet, the animals may live longer...but one local farmer won't be so lucky. As Halloween approaches, Stan is asked to cater a doggie costume party hosted by the Happy Cow Dairy Farm. Part of a local co-op, Happy Cow specializes in organic dairy products, and farmers Hal and Emmalee Hoffman have started opening up the farm for parties, offering a "haunted" corn maze as an added attraction. When Hal's lifeless body is found in the maze, the police at first suspect his wife, but Stan soon learns the dairy farmer had plenty of enemies - from bitter family members to shady business associates. If Stan can't extract a kernel of truth from the labyrinth of lies, she may be the next one to buy the farm...
My review: This was a fun new cozy mystery series. The name of the town is kind of funny. I liked that it was centered around organic treats for your pets. The cutest thing in the book was a doggie costume party how fun would that be to go to. The not so fun part was that one of the owner's was found dead in the maze. I fell in love with this community from the first page. Like normal for me I did not have the exacted killer figured out until the very end. Read along through all the twists and turns and see if you can guess the killer. I have not had the chance to read book yet but will be going back and reading it now. For a fun light read I suggest you pick this book up.

The Story Keeper by Lisa Wingate

The Story Keeper by Lisa Wingate
ISBN: 9781414386998
Trade Paperback
Published: September 2014
Synopsis: When successful New York editor Jen Gibbs discover a decaying slush-pile manuscript on her desk, she has no idea that the story of Sarra, a young mixed-race woman trapped in Appalachia at the burn of the twentieth century, will both take her on a journey and change her forever. Happy with her life in the city, and rising in her career with a new job at Vida House Publishing, Jen has left her Appalachian past and twisted family ties far behind. But the search for the rest of the manuscript, and Jen's suspicions about the identity of the unnamed author, will draw her into a mystery that leads back to the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains ... and quite possibly through the doors she thought she had closed forever.
My review: I am so glad that I got picked as one of the sisters in the Sisterhood of the Traveling Book by Lisa. This book was every bit as good as the first book that I read by her (The Prayer Box). The fact that there was a story within a story in this book is an added bonus in my opinion. Jen is such a strong character in this book, she new she needed to leave home at a young age to get away from her past but with the drop of manuscript on her desk she finds the past is not as far away as it seemed. I enjoyed meeting some other characters along the way like sweet Hannanh - I found myself feeling sorry for her and Evan - who is not who he seems at the beginning. I did not care for Jen's dad or sister Mirah as they just did not seem nice to me but then again it is a whole different world where they live and how they choose to survive. There is a mystery in this book and some twists that kept me turning the pages long into the night. I must admit that I read a little over half of this book in one day and I don't do that often. I give this book 5 stars and would recommend it to everyone.

My review: This is the last book in the Inn at Eagle Hill series and I am going to miss reading this series. Amy did a very good job though in tying up the story and bringing it all to a close. You must read all the books in the series or you will feel like you are missing something. I would love to find the Eagle Inn and visit as it seems like a nice place with many friendly people. Another thing that I liked about this book it that it has a little mystery and suspense in it so you don't won't to put this book down. Then you have your touch romance which just adds to the story line. If you are looking for a good series then pick up this one as you will not be disappointed.

A Mother's Secret by Amy Clipston
Hearts of Lancaster Grand Hotel Series #2
ISBN: 9780310335818
Trade Paperback
Synopsis: Carolyn Lapp dreams of marrying for love. But will the errors of her past destroy this dream forever?
Carolyn Lapp longs to have a traditional Amish family. But she lives on her brother's farm with her parents and her 15-year old son, Benjamin. Carolyn has never revealed the identity of Benjamin's father and lives daily with the guilt and shame of her youthful indiscretion. Her brother simply will not forgive her.
His answer is to arrange a practical marriage for Carolyn to Saul, a widower with a little girl. But Carolyn isn't convinced that Saul really loves her and believes he is simply looking for someone to help raise his daughter.
When Benjamin causes trouble at a local horse auction, horse breeder Joshua Glick decides that he must be taught a lesson. Carolyn and Joshua are unmistakably drawn to each other, but Joshua mistakenly assumes that Benjamin is Carolyn's brother. Carolyn fears that if he discovers the truth, her past will destroy their budding romance.
After years of shame and loneliness, Carolyn suddenly has two men vying for her attention. But which of them will give her the family-and the unconditional love-she's longed for?
My review: This was a nice story to read that at times pulled at my heart strings. It is a story about love and forgiveness. Amy did a good job with the character development in this story. I felt bad for Carolyn even though her parents have forgiven her for her past her brother is not in fact he at times is not very nice to her. When Carolyn first meets Joshua it is because of her son causing trouble and Joshua thinks that her son is her brother and Carolyn is afraid to tell him the truth for fear he won't like her any more. It must have been hard for her. The plot of this story is very realistic and happens a lot. That is one of the things that make this book good. Even though this is a second book in a series you can read it as a stand alone but you will find yourself wanting to read the first one. Fans of Amish fiction or someone looking for a good summer read will enjoy this book.

Heaven Sent Rain by Lauraine Snelling - Book Blast and Give Joy Giveaway
Summary:
Dinah Taylor has an orderly life, and that is just how she likes it. A perfectly furnished luxury apartment, a satisfying career as a scientist and CEO of her own company, and an uncomplicated personal life. But all of that changes when she meets seven-year-old Jonah.
The boy shows up one day, a scruffy dog by his side, in front of her office building. Dinah knows nothing about kids and even less about animals, but after she buys him breakfast, he shows up the next day...and the next. She tries to learn more about him, to help him, but he's remarkably skilled at evading her questions.
And then, late one night, he calls her in a panic--his dog has been badly injured. Dinah rushes them to a local animal clinic, where she meets Garret, a veterinarian with a thriving practice and a passion for drawing.
Though Jonah takes to Garret right away, for some reason neither understands, Dinah and Garret just don't mesh. But for Jonah's sake, their lives continue to collide, and slowly the relationship between these three strangers begins to change.

My review: As with the other books in this trilogy it was an enjoyable read. Even if you have not read the other two books in the series you can read this as a stand alone but I guarantee that you end up going back and reading the other two in the series. Just like the other books in this series there is a little message to be found and this one is forgiveness. I really found myself liking Sally and pulling for her to find her happiness. This book kept me turning the pages well into the night as I found myself wanting to see what was going to happen. Seagrass Pier by Colleen Coble
Hope Beach Series #3
ISBN: 9780718011734
Synopsis: In a secluded corner of Hope Beach, one woman must decipher a stranger's memories . . . before they cost her everything.
Elin Summerall was one of the lucky ones. Not only did she get a heart transplant, but the donor was a perfect fit. A miraculously perfect fit.
But when Elin begins having violent flashbacks---and vivid dreams of being strangled---she realizes that she has been the recipient of more than just a new heart . . . Elin is remembering her donor's murder.
Her strange affliction has attracted some unwanted attention: from the press, from the authorities . . . and from the killer himself. Now, living alone with her young daughter and aging mother, Elin is being stalked---by a man she's only met in her nightmares.
The police are dubious of her story, but one off-duty FBI agent is eager to help her: Agent Marc Everton, the father of Elin's daughter.
Of course, he doesn't know about that. Yet.
Now, in a remote cottage on Hope Island, Elin and Marc must probe the secrets buried in her borrowed heart. And there's no time to waste. One man is desperate to silence her---before she remembers too much.
My review: As always Colleen has another hit with this installment in the Hope Beach series. I like that this book had a little bit of mystery mixed with a little romance. This story had me on the edge of my seat and not wanting to put the book down. It is hard to imagine what Elin went through thinking she was having flashbacks that she thinks come from her donor's murder. I would have been scared out of my wits. At the same time it was interesting to read Elin's story as you sometimes wonder what transplant recipients go through. Colleen did a good job with the characters in this book and making them seem like they could be someone you know. If you are looking for a good mystery I suggest you pick this book up.
