What did I think of this book:

I enjoyed reading this book and visiting the characters. Elvis the cat is such a fun character in the book. It is so neat how he can tell that people are lying. I felt bad for Rose - here she saw a murder and no one but her friends believe. So off we go to help her prove it. The author did a good job of keeping the story moving along. Just when I thought I had it figured out she gave me a new clue and I was wrong. I enjoyed this story and am looking forward to more books in this series.

About Laura Fabiani:

In 2008, Laura began blogging about books shortly after she published her first book. She started Library of Clean Reads, a book review blog, and discovered the joy of reviewing a variety of genres. Her children have joined her in this venture and they spend many happy hours reading books together. A Special Care Counselor by profession, Laura has co-led and developed programs for seniors with dementia, including Alzheimer's Disease. She has a passion for the topic of neuroscience and wellness.

My thoughts:

Another great hit by Cleo. I have enjoyed each of the books in this series. It is so much fun to visit the coffeehouse and see what Clare and the crew are up to. This story has a lot going on. We had a shooter targeting cops, a jewel thief and a sunken ship. I have to say my favorite part of the book was the sunken ship story. I would have loved it if that was what the whole book was about. The characters are well developed and the story is a fast paced one. It was fun trying to keep everything straight for the different story lines. I liked how I thought I had it all figured out only to find out I did not - that is until the author revealed it all in the end. Then we have a bit of romance as Clare and Mike are getting closer to each other. I am happy to have had the chance to read this book and am looking forward to the next one.

I’m a Canadian author with a keen interest in genealogy. I write medieval romance about family honour, ancestry, and roots. My novels are intimate love stories full of passion and adventure.

Passion conquers whatever obstacles a hostile medieval world can throw in its path. My page-turning adventures have earned me a place on Amazon’s All-Star list. 

Besides writing, I have two addictions-crosswords and genealogy, probably the reason I love research. I am a fool for cats. My husband is an entrepreneur who is fond of boasting he’s never had a job.

I live on Canada’s scenic west coast now, but I was born and raised in the UK and I love breathing life into the history of my homeland.

Guest Post:

My story was initially inspired by the Lebor Gabála Érenn (The Book of the Taking of Ireland), a collection of poems and prose narratives that purports to be a history of Ireland and the Irish people from the creation of the world to the Middle Ages.
The earliest version was compiled in the 11th century (probably by Christian monks) and tells of Ireland being settled (or taken) six times by six groups of people.
My story centers on the last two groups, the Tuatha Dè Danann, who in the Lebor represent Ireland’s pagan gods, and the Milesians who sailed from Galicia and represent the Irish people, the Gaels.
Most scholars regard the Lebor as myth rather than history, and it was perhaps an attempt to reconcile native Irish myth with the Christian view of history.
I often base my plots on actual historical events, but this tale didn’t provide such a framework, which left my imagination free to soar into the realm of the mythical and magical. It was a scary journey into the unknown at first, but one I thoroughly enjoyed once the ideas began to flow and I got to know my characters.
Bear in mind, however, that my Tuathans and Gaelicians are figments of my imagination and are not meant to be a literal interpretation of the pseudo-historical peoples in the Lebor.

My thoughts:

I like how this author's characters deal are so real. It was nice to catch up with characters from her other two books. With that being said this can be read as a stand alone book but there are spoilers for the previous books. This book is one that you start reading and before you know it the day it gone. While reading this book you will go through a range of emotions from laughter to sadness. I liked how this story proves that you can overcome things in your past to become a better person. In conclusion this book had well developed characters, a good story line and moves along at a steady pace.

My thoughts:

I have been enjoying this series from the beginning and I thought this book was a good addition to it. I like hearing about all the different spices throughout the books. Then you have Piper who gets mixed up in all sorts of things and must solve the murder. It is nice to see the characters develop with each book. The author gave me just enough clues that I thought I had it figured it out but I was wrong. Even though this book is a part of a series you can read it as a stand alone but I am sure you will enjoy it enough that you will want to read the entire series. I look forward to more books in this series to see where the characters will take us next.

Hearing the words, “maybe it’s a dead body,” while golfing with friends fired her imagination for the Bunco Babe Mystery series originally published by NAL. In conjunction with Beyond the Page Publishing, the Bunco Babe series has been republished in digital format as the Kate McCall Mysteries complete with new titles and a whole new look. Gail is currently writing the Spice Shop Mysteries for Minotaur/St. Martin’s. When she isn’t reading, writing, or sleeping, she can usually be found on the golf course or hanging out with friends.
