What did I think about this book?
I thought this was a very inspiring book to read. The author tells her story of not only how she overcame her pain but how she went on to train for IRONMAN which is an accomplishment in and of itself. Her writing style was very easy to read and made you just fly through the pages. I like how she includes lots of information for your use like nutrition, supplements and how to surround yourself with positive people. She also gives you ways to talk to your doctor which is very helpful. If you are a person who deals with a lot of pain then I think you should check this book out. I have family members and friends that deal with pain and I will be passing this book on to them to read.
What did I think of the cover?
I like the cover but I do not really feel the cover had much to do with the title.

Interview:
Q: How did you do research for Conquer Your Pain in 9 Steps?
A: Conquer
Your Pain in 9 Steps is essentially the continuation of my first book, Not Lying Down. While Not Lying Down focuses on my story of
conquering a 13-year struggle with chronic pain to ultimately cross the finish
line at an IRONMAN triathlon, this new book is all about HOW to implement the 9
steps that I believe got me to the finish line. I needed supporting evidence
that my 9-Step approach was aligned with the science behind motivation and
behavior change. This is where the majority of my research was focused. It
included many TED talks and books on psychology, self-help and behavioral
change. In addition, I uncovered a ton of helpful information and resources by
attending a “Coaching in Leadership and Healthcare” conference sponsored by
Harvard Medical School.
Q: Do you have another profession besides
writing?
A: Yes, I founded Inner Victory Coaching
after leaving a 20-year career in the pharmaceuticals industry. The mission of
Inner Victory Coaching is to empower individuals to become their own Health
Champions, so they can suffer less and achieve more. My roles (besides being
President) include Motivational Speaker, Workshop / Seminar Leader and Wellness
Coach. My writing essentially provides the roadmap I use to empower, guide and
support individuals on their Health Champion journeys.
Q: How long have you been writing?
A: If I include all of the scientific writing
I did during my career in Pharmaceuticals, I’ve been writing for over 20 years.
My first foray into book writing, however, started in April of 2013.
Q: What is the last great book you’ve
read?
A: I’ve read some really amazing books as
part of my research for writing Conquer
Your Pain in 9 Steps. The one that really stands out for me is “What Makes
Olga Run” by Bruce Grierson. It’s the story of a 93-year old track star, who
brings to life the science behind aging well. It’s so well written and full of
fascinating facts about the simple steps we can take to live longer, healthier
and happier lives.
Q: If there was one thing you’d want
readers to remember about you, what would it be?
A: I want people to know I really do
believe that the more trying the adversity in our lives, the greater the reward
on the other side. I am grateful for the years of suffering, because they have
led me to uncover the secret to happiness: Happiness is not about smiling and
laughing all the time, it’s about knowing deep down that you have what it takes
to deal with any challenge that life throws at you. The only way to develop
this belief is to live through and conquer adversity.
