Finding Fraser by KC Dyer - Review and Giveaway

Number of pages: 368
Genre: Fiction

Synopsis:
Escape to Scotland with the delightful new novel that readers have fallen in love with—inspired by Diana Gabaldon’s #1 New York Times bestselling Outlander series.

I met Jamie Fraser when I was nineteen years old. He was tall, red-headed, and at our first meeting at least, a virgin. He was, in fact, the perfect man.
That he was fictional hardly entered into it...

On the cusp of thirty, Emma Sheridan is desperately in need of a change. After a string of failed relationships, she can admit that no man has ever lived up to her idea of perfection: the Scottish fictional star of romantic fantasies the world over—James Alexander Malcolm MacKenzie Fraser.

Her ideal man might be ripped from the pages of a book, but Emma hopes that by making one life-altering decision she might be able to turn fiction into fact. After selling all her worldly possessions, Emma takes off for Scotland with nothing but her burgeoning travel blog to confide in.

But as she scours the country’s rolling green hills and crumbling castles, Emma discovers that in searching for her own Jamie Fraser, she just might find herself.

What did I think of this book:
When I first saw this book I knew I had to get it as I am such a big fan of Diana Gabaldon's Outlander series that anything that connects with me jumps out. I really enjoyed this book, who would not want to set out to find their own Jaime. I thnk just about everyone who has read Diana's Outlander series would. The way the author used the blog posts as part of the storyline made it fun to read. I found myself wanting to know what Emma would post next. Emma's sister made me a little mad, why could she not be supportive of her sister instead of judging her all the time. I loved Emma's quiestion - "Well ..Where do you go when your heart is broken?" Her answer "Me? I go to the bookstore" that is so me - I go to the bookstore when I am upset as it just makes me feel better, calmer if you will.

Emma mentioned she did not watch the Ourlander series because she wanted to keep pictures of Jaime and Claire intact in her head. That is what I said too when the show first was coming out. I did not want to watch it as I had a picture of Jaime and Claire in my head and the actors picked were not it. Well I watched the show and now am so hooked and love who they got to play all of the characters and still have my own version of Jaime in my head.

Emma drove me a little crazy at times as I wanted her to hurry up and find her Fraser. Sometimes you can not see what you have until you lose something and that is excately what happened to her. Her Fraser was right there and should could not see it. At times Emma was a little niave which I suppose is a lot of people but here again at times I wanted to shake her. I felt so bad for her when all of her things were stolen and wondered ok now what but she kept on. I loved it when she got to Nairn. The town was full of great people. Morag was one of my favorite - tough out the outside but a softie on the inside. Then Ash who a good kid and Katy the librarian who kept kicking Emma off the computer and then who can forget Hamish they boyfriend who wanted nothing more then to come to America and live the California dream. Nairn is a town that would be a quaint place to stay and enjoy the scenery away from all the hustle and bustle of the big cities.

The author did a nice job of brining the story to a good ending but I was wanting just a little more. What happens next with Emma. I am glad I picked this book up and enjoyed it.

  2. Outlander is my favorite so far, because we first meet the sweet, innocent Jamie. I love the show but always prefer the books so have taken a little break from the show. However, now I have the perfect Jamie in my head!
